The International Mural Festival series, sponsored by the 1990 Institute and organize mostly by continues to bring together children from around the world to use their artistic talents to appreciate the natural environment. The 1990 Institute collaborates with the China National Children's Center (CNCC) in Beijing on this series. Now international children have created another beautiful Mural: The "Ocean Bottom" Mural at the China National Children's Center in Beijing, May 2011. As you can see from this slide show, it was a great success! This time the event was organized entirely by the CNCC with support from our Institute.
It was a wonderful international experience for the artists: Sixty three (63) children and six (6) teachers from China, USA, Korea, Russia. They painted the 50 square meter base wall of CNCC's mermaid facility. Of the children, 44% were Chinese and 56% were from other countries. They painted fishes, dolphins, sharks, mermaids, seaweeds, bubbles, and even an imaginary sea snail under the blue background of ocean bottom. The organizers had the children paint the logos of CNCC and The 1990 Institute on the mural itself and asked them to sign their school names and their own names at the foot of the ticket office booth. At the end they were treated with free rides at the facilities to thank them for their time and efforts. They have made the CNCC more beautiful.
According to a survey by the organizers, this was the first time many of these children had participated in such a group mural-painting. Others are experienced because they have participated in our earlier mural festivals. They are all delighted with the organization and management of the festival and many of them plan to paint murals at home or at their own schools in future. In the future some said they want to paint about other nature topics including other ocean bottoms, jungles, outer space and planets.
